![]() ![]() It is extremely rare to even be offered the opportunity to purchase a software program it usually happens only when another software developing firm would like to sell a program that they no longer want to maintain or market, and that can be for various reasons (changing market audiences, going out of business, etc.). The only software programs that I own are the ones that I developed myself. I am a retired software developer, and over the past 40-50 years, I have written many software programs for enterprise companies, and I have installed thousands of computer programs on my personal computers as a user, but I have never purchased a single program in my entire life. Unfortunately, your analogy is wrong because your premise is wrong to begin with.
